Dear Track 3/4thGrade:
So, you must be thinking:”Who is my new teacher?” and “What are we going to do in 4th grade?” These are important questions. But first let me say that I’m looking forward to spending the year together learning new things!
Who is Ms.Fellman? Well, here are a few things to know about me. I have been teaching in WCPSS for eighteen years, most of those years teaching fourth grade! I really enjoy working with you, the students, because I really think 4th grade is the grooviest grade!
I love school so much that I went to Meredith College twice, getting my Undergraduate degree in English and then my Master’s degree in Elementary Education. For fun I like to read (mostly historical-fiction), watch spy movies, root for the Celtics, dance around the kitchen, and eat cookies! I take my job – teaching you – seriously as it is your future. But, I also think that learning can be loads of fun! My former students asked: “Ms. Fellman, why do you like to teach?” Simply, I like to listen to what you have to say and to learn from the thoughts and ideas you have to share!
So what will we do in 4th grade? There’s all the usual school stuff: math, reading, writing, science, social studies. I think that you learn best when you have a problem to solve and work with a team/partner to solve it. Working this way gives you plenty of opportunity to listen to and communicate with others, respect other’s ideas, and share what you have discovered about the problem.
I am looking forward to meeting each of you (and your parents), and I know we will make this a fabulous year!
See you soon!
Ms. Fellman
